Online Recording Session Player (Steel and Guitar) using Luna
Using Luna DAW
Recently I switched to Luna from Reaper. It sounds significantly better and I think it also sounds better than Protools. One of the benefits of using Luna is that it ingrates perfectly with the Apollo and the UA plugins work perfectly as well. The tape machines that are built in are a huge upgrade to most anything else on the market.
Pedal Steel Sessions
Sometimes, I will record pedal steel and guitar amps in a bathroom which can have a certain sound. Long wooden hallways are way better but alas, I cannot use it when the family is here.
Derby D10 Pedal Steel
I primarily play a Derby D10 for sessions and live playing. It is a double neck but I primarily play the E9th neck. The goodrich active volume pedal is great for no noise and hum. The tone is significantly better.
64 Custom Fender Deluxe Reverb
For recording, a Fender Deluxe Reverb can be great for steel. It is quieter since the clean headroom is less than a twin and so it tends to record better. A Princeton Reverb is also great for recording steel (Russ Palh does that a lot).
