Pedal Steel and Dobro Session Player in Nashville, TN
One of the highlights of this year has been recording pedal steel guitar and dobro on “Switcheroo,” the new release from Boy In Space. As a session musician, it's always exciting to bring instruments that are deeply rooted in Americana and country music into a modern pop production, and this song provided the perfect opportunity to do exactly that. The textures of the pedal steel and dobro add warmth, atmosphere, and emotion to the track while complementing its contemporary, alternative-pop sound.
Boy In Space is the artistic project of Swedish singer-songwriter Robin Lundbäck, a writer and performer known for blending vulnerable storytelling with cinematic pop production. Before launching Boy In Space, Robin was a member of the band JTR and has since built an international audience through songs that explore relationships, self-discovery, and human emotion. “Switcheroo” is the fourth single from his upcoming debut album, The Man Who Lost It All, and has been described as a bittersweet yet liberating anthem about finally letting go and finding clarity after a difficult season. The album was recorded live with a full band, giving the music an intimate and organic feel.
Being invited to record on “Switcheroo” was both creatively challenging and incredibly rewarding. Hearing pedal steel and dobro woven into Boy In Space's modern soundscape is a reminder that great music often lives where genres intersect. I'm grateful to have played a small part in this release and excited for listeners around the world to hear these instruments in a fresh and unexpected context.
