Recording Pedal Steel Steel Session for Hawaiian Song
Pedal Steel Recording Session Player
Jon records all kinds of pedal steel material. Anything from classic country, 90's country, alternative rock, Hawaiian, etc. Since he also plays many other instruments he can overdub multiple sounds into season. Basically, he is a one stop shop for recording with the exception of drums (which he can program).
Recording Pedal Steel with Luna and an Apollo Twin
The DAW that Jon uses is Luna. He also uses the Apollo Twin as an interface. He likes the sound of that combo more than anything else. Jon primarily plays E9th tuning and uses that voicing for multiple songs.
Pedal Steel through a Fender Tonemaster Twin Reverb
Jon uses a Tonemaster Fender Twin Reverb frequently as his pedal steel amp. The DI out is what he is using on this recording which sounds pretty good if the interface is good (an apollo).
Utility Player in Nashville
Jon plays pedal steel, lap steel, dobro, keys, lead/ acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, and a few other things. He also sings background vocals.
